Executive Chef David Alvarado

Chef Alvarado's passion for food is the reason he has worked in Houston restaurants for over seventeen years.  Interested in all aspects of the culinary art, he has seen his cuisine develop throughout the years as he traveled to different countries to learn about different cultures and their cuisine. His tastes pull from all of his culinary experiences to create eclectic menus full of unconventional, yet harmonious dishes.

While working as the sous chef at Shade in the Heights for two years, Chef Alvarado developed a great understanding of the elegant dining experience, in addition to managing full kitchen. Through moving on as the Executive Chef of La Vista in the Galleria, he developed a new vision for his creations. In 2008, he took that understanding and vision to open a casual neighborhood dining experience, which he so elegantly called Sophia.
